Insurance Broking AwardsNIBA presents three awards every year at the National Convention. The General Insurer of the Year, the Lex McKeown Trophy and the Warren Tickle Memorial Award. More information can be found on the Awards section of the NIBA website. The Warren Tickle Memorial Award is given to a young broker who performs his or her work in a manner that merits recognition for its excellence. This trophy began in 1990 and is awarded in honour of Warren Tickle, a former Insurance Commissioner and insurance lecturer. He was the Commissioner responsible for the implementation of the Insurance (Agents & Brokers) Act 1984.Warren's early insurance career was at Sun Alliance and it is the present day company, VERO, that sponsors the trophy. The winner of the Warren Tickle Memorial Award will be selected from 5 finalists who are chosen as the YP of the Year in their State. The state winners will attend a personal development workshop in Sydney as well as attend the NIBA Convention where the overall winner will be announced. All costs for attendance are met by the sponsor including airfare, registration and accommodation. At the Convention the recipient is presented with the trophy. NIBA members are able to nominate a young broker for the award provided meets the entry criteria. More informaiton and nomination forms are available on the NIBA Website. |
