Becoming a NIBA College Assessor, Trainer or Examiner
NIBA College is Registered Training Organisation that offers a range of educational programs and compliance services for insurance brokers, authorised representatives, financial planners and representatives of insurance companies and underwriting agencies.
Educational Programs are provided by NIBA College for the award of national qualifications within the current Financial Services Training Package. These include coursework, workplace assessment and short courses, tutorials and seminars.
NIBA Compliance Services assist licensees set up and maintain the most appropriate ongoing compliance system for their business. NIBA compliance assessors conduct on-site reviews and use Internet based tools to control compliance activities related to all aspects of the business’s FSRA license.
- NIBA College Assessors undertake:
- Individual competency assessments; and/or
- Organisational compliance reviews for licensed financial services licensees.
NIBA College Trainers:
- Conduct face to face or eLearning based training sessions, seminars and short courses;
- Provide tutorial support to students undertaking accredited courses; and/or
- Examine and mark assessment tasks.
Experienced practitioners can apply to undertake one or both roles bysubmitting a detailed application describing their past work experience as well as future work preferences. This is to ensure NIBA College complies with the requirements laid down by the industry regulator, the Australian Securities and Investment Commission, and the various National and State educational authorities.
NIBA College provides an induction program for all successful applicants. All assessors and trainers are able to participate in NIBA College’s professional development programs to ensure that professional skills are kept current.
What to include in the application
All assessors and trainers must have relevant experience, knowledge and skills in the sectors of the financial services industry in which they intend to train or assess.

Industry experience and qualifications
- Work experience;
- Supervisory and management experience;
- Levels of technical knowledge;
- Prior experience as an industry trainer and/or assessor;
- Professional development activities undertaken in financial services or education and training;
- Qualifications (please include transcripts):
- Industry related degrees, diplomas, certificates or statements of attainment; and
- Those interested in applying to be an assessor must include evidence that you have successfully completed the following three standards from the Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training or its equivalent:
- BSZ401A Plan Assessment
- BSZ402A Conduct Assessment
- BSZ403A Review Assessment
- Those applying to be NIBA College trainers must have completed the full Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training.
