NIBA College

NIBACollege CPD Sponsorship Program

Over the last decade, NIBA’s CPD system has become the standard in professional broking practice. NIBACollege runs training events in all capital cities and regional areas to assist brokers to further their skills and knowledge in life and general broking. NIBACollege also provides a range of distance education programs.

Sponsorship of NIBACollege by insurers and other service providers has become an important part of the overall training calendar.These organisations have found it is an excellent medium for gaining access to brokers throughout Australia and to demonstrate their capabilities. For brokers, the program provides an important opportunity to learn from and liaise with a range of insurance and other specialists.

Sponsorship benefits

The NIBA College CPD program has proved to be a cost effective way for sponsors to:

  • Build better relationships with brokers
  • Enhance their company’s image
  • Gain improved dealings with better trained brokers

In addition, the link with NIBA College, an ASIC accredited Registered Training Organisation, significantly increases the credibility and acceptance of your training program among brokers and other risk advisers. Sponsoring a NIBA College CPD program is now recognised as an effective way to deliver a positive message about your organisation to those brokers and other advisers that distribute your products and services. As well, sponsors benefit from ongoing exposure to the broker market through the editorial and pictorial coverage NIBACollege provides through its well known publications.

What sponsorship involves

NIBA College works with each sponsor to design programs that meet both the sponsoring company’s requirements and broker training needs. We regularly survey brokers to identify the most popular topics. Over the past few years we have extended our courses to cover the full range of technical insurance topics and many business skills and personal effectiveness areas.

Sponsors can participate in the CPD calendar in many different ways. There are always exciting new training programs and systems being introduced by NIBA College. The focus of every program is on enhancing representative knowledge and skills at the relevant ASIC Tier 2, Tier 1 and Responsible Officer level. There are also programs for non-advisers and support staff. Each program meets ASIC training guidelines and is matched to the relevant national competency standards for insurance advisers.

All programs offer sponsorship opportunities. As a sponsor you can participate at many different levels depending on your marketing and budget objectives. For example, you may choose to participate in:

  • A full day business skills workshop or half day product training program;
  • A national series of breakfast or lunchtime Business Briefing Seminars;
  • A Young Professionals Seminar;
  • A workshop program run in each major capital city or in just one or two regional areas; or
  • An online education program program.

If you are unsure of the type of program to offer, NIBA College staff have a number of suggestions.We regularly research our members to identify the most popular topics. For example, if you favour involvement in a seminar program your company can choose to sponsor an expert speaker or trainer or actively participate by providing in-house technical experts as trainers or panellists in a session dealing with an insurance topic. NIBA College has access to a wide range of quality speakers in many topics.

What your sponsorship includes

Once your firm becomes part of the NIBA CPD program NIBA College provides a full service in terms of, preparation and administration of the program which includes providing:

  • Promotional activities to build maximum attendance in the case of seminars;
  • Close liaison with your local personnel to ensure that the event runs smoothly on the day;
  • Administration of the event including all venue bookings, catering arrangements and co-ordination of training resources;
  • Professional advice on preparation of the topic, training materials format of the program and presenters; and
  • Post seminar reports and evaluations of attendee’s response to the program.

What does sponsorship cost?

Based on our extensive experience, NIBA College is able to prepare an outline of the costs after initial discussion about the scope of your proposed sponsorship.

The most usual sponsorship arrangement for seminar and workshops is to share the set-up costs between NIBA College and your firm on a 50/50 basis. This does not usually include any after session entertainment or catering costs which are solely met by sponsors. NIBA College retains registration fees. Your sponsorship involvement helps defray costs of training programs thus making them attractively priced to representatives.

Costs range from a few hundred dollars for a single program in one location up to several thousand for a national program. Cost categories include essentials such as speaker, venue, promotional and training material costs. NIBA College prepares accurate budget estimates prior to the event with costs clearly broken down into the main cost areas. In general, NIBA College does not meet the costs of travel or accommodation for internal company speakers because they are able to combine travel for seminars with other business on behalf on the firm.

Distance education is delivered in a variety of formats from the traditional booklet format through to the latest interactive eLearning courses. An eLearning program is extremely flexible and is becoming a popular medium of training. eLearning programs start at around $2,000.

Whichever program you choose to support, NIBA College uses your sponsorship contribution to assist in the development and delivery of quality professional education. It enables us to provide highly relevant education to the intermediary sector specifically matched to the ASIC competency requirements.
