What is a certified copy?

A certified copy is a copy of an original document which is clearly authorised as a true copy of the original by an appropriate person.

To make a certified copy:

1. Photocopy your original document

2. Take both the photocopy and the original document to any one of the following people:

3. Each page of the photocopy should clearly show:

the words “certified true copy of the original”
the signature of the authorised person
the full name, address, and the qualification that authorises them to be a witness. It must be possible to contact the authorised person from the details provided.
