What is a certified copy?

A certified copy is a copy of an original document which is clearly authorised as a true copy of the original by an appropriate person.

To make a certified copy:

1.  Photocopy your original document

2.  Take both the photocopy and the original document to any one of the following people:

    • a justice of the peace
    • a member of the police force
    • a registered medical practitioner
    • a registered dentist
    • a pharmacist
    • the manager of a bank
    • a minister of religion

3.  Each page of the photocopy should clearly show:

    • the words “certified true copy of the original”
    • the signature of the authorised person
    • the full name, address, and the qualification that authorises them to be a witness. It must be possible to contact the authorised person from the details provided.

4.  Mail the certified copy to: Qualifications Advisor, NIBA College, Level 18, 111 Pacific Hwy, North Sydney NSW 2060
