International MembershipEligible brokers can apply for Qualified Practising Insurance Broker (QPIB) International status directly to NIBA. To apply, individual brokers must submit an application form with a resume that is accompanied by documents relating to their education, experience and association membership.
Applicants must at least have:
- A Diploma of Financial Services (Insurance Broking) with NIBA College or another registered training organisation or equivalent;
- A minimum of 4 years experience as an insurance broker during which they have been employed with a licensed or regulated broking business in their country of residence;
- Participated in continuing professional development as required by the NIBA Board in the 12 month period prior to the date of his/her application.
- Evidence of membership of a broker’s association recognised by the NIBA Board in their country of residence. Currently recognised organisations include:
- Irish Insurance Brokers Association
- Institute of Insurance Brokers (UK)
- British Insurance and Investment Association
- Hong Kong Confederation of Insurance Brokers
- License Insurance Brokers Association of Fiji
- Insurance Brokers Association of South Africa
- Singapore Insurance Brokers Association
- The South African Insurance Brokers Association
- Insurance Brokers Association of New Zealand
- Association of Insurance Brokers and Agents Israel
- Insurance Brokers Association of Malaysia
A QPIB International applicant must be able to overcome any written objection lodged by any NIBA Member relating to his/her professionalism and business ethics.
Once admitted brokers can complete their annual CPD through a range of activities, either locally through a variety of approved training programs or by distance or online learning through NIBA College or other providers.
These members are entitled to use the post nominal “NIBA College (QPIB International)" while this class of member.
