Annual CPD Requirements

Members are required to obtain 50 CPD hours over two years. A minimum of 25 hours must be completed annually but extra points earned in the first year can be carried over to the second.

Members must undertake a minimum of 17.5 structured hours of CPD annually from at least two of the following training categories:

Members can claim a maximum of 7.5 hours annually in the following unstructured training categories:

Senior QPIB’s (i.e. those aged 55 years and over and with over 10 years as a practicing broker) can claim their 17.5 structured CPD from:

  • Activities in the above categories;
  • Individual research activities (the restriction of maximum 3 points per activity does not apply)

This provides higher levels of recognition for workplace based professional development activities that senior QPIBs undertake.

Activities not eligable for NIBA CPD

The CPD year runs from January to December in any year. In the first year (2009) members can count CPD activities from July 2008 to December 2009 towards the required annual 25 CPD hours. In 2010 the CPD year will be in line with the calendar year.

Members who are forced to leave the industry for health reasons for a substantial portion of the year may apply for special exemption from the annual CPD requirements. Initial enquires should be made to the membership registrar at registrar@niba.com.au
