- Sector: Insurance claims broking for general or life insurance products
- ASIC accreditation: Tier 1
- NIBA College membership: Qualified Practising Insurance Broker (QPIB)
- Pre-requisite: 5 out of the last 8 year relevant experience
- Award: Diploma in Financial Services
This program is suitable those with experience in managing claims in a Broking environment.
This assessment is specifically for insurance brokers that work in claims management and covers the following competency areas:
- Higher level broking claims skills around negotiating a complex claims settlement for an insurance broking client including the use of appropriate specialist terminology in dealing with the claim and resolving disputes.
- Core business knowledge and skills as they apply in the financial services industry including: health and safety practices and the effective use of technology, information collection and presentation, communication and team work skills.
- Claims management skills. Candidates can choose 5 claims management skills in which they have most experience to be assessed in from the following:
- Investigating claims
- Implementing claims recovery procedures
- Reviewing claims settlement and recovery procedures
- Managing non routine, complex claims
- Settling non routine, complex claims
- Working with legal teams to resolve complex claims
- Providing decisions on legal liability and indemnity of a claim
- Reviewing and updating claims reserves in portfolio
- Evaluating and reporting on status of claims portfolio to identified stakeholders
