If you have some prior experience in broking or insurance direct entry to a Tier 1 course into a Diploma level program is often the best option.

A Diploma qualification is the industry benchmark for a competent broking practitioner. NIBA College offers a number of diploma programs by coursework or senior professional assessment for specialists across the industry.

 

ASIC Responsible Manager Requirements

If you wish to advise retail clients in life or general insurance broking products and services you need to complete a minimum set of training units within your Diploma studies.

These are covered in the first three modules of your College diploma program.

Diploma of Insurance Broking

NIBA College’s flagship course is the Diploma of Insurance Broking which covers the skills and knowledge requirements to work as a practicing general insurance broker. There is also a Tier 1 Life Insurance Upgrade available. This qualification is undertaken in two blocks of study comprising 3 modules each.

Tier 1 Insurance Broking Short Course

Tier 1 broking studies are completed in the first block of the Diploma course. The focus is on retail insurance in either the general or life broking area.

Life Insurance Upgrade Course

There are many opportunities to discuss and advise your clients on the risks associated with death and disability as a general insurance broker or financial planner. This course helps you quickly upgrade your skills in life risk.

Tier 1 insurance broking workshop

Workshops are offered for Diploma students to complement their distance study program. Workshops cut down the study time significantly. NIBA College workshop classes are small and led by our expert trainers who provide plenty of opportunities for participant interaction.

Are you an experienced broker?

If you have at least 5 of the last 8 years’ experience in broking, reinsurance broking or claims then you may be able to complete your Diploma qualification and Tier 1 accreditation by senior professional assessment which is based on your prior work experience..

What's Next?

If you've completed your Diploma of Insurance Broking and have 4 years experience in Broking - you are now eligible to apply for QPIB Membership.

If you are interested in studying Brokerage Management, consider the Advanced Diploma of Financial Services, which covers Business Planning, Sales and Marketing and Operations Management. 

Brokers looking to achieve a tertiary level qualification can enrol in the Graduate Diploma of Insurance Broking and study specialisations in Business Management, Risk Management, Operational Risks or Broking Facilities and Schemes.

Enrolment

You can enrol in Diploma courses at any time - Before you enrol make sure you: 


1. Read the terms of study - you will be bound by these rules so make sure you understand them.

2. Click here to view course fees.

3. Check if you may be eligible for exemptions due to prior study. If so, you will need to provide a certified copy of your Statement of Attainment or equivalent documentation on enrolment.

Once you have decided on the program you wish to undertake, complete the enrolment form online or download the manual form and send it to NIBA College. If you have any questions regarding your enrolment or which course or assessment is right for you, please contact us on qualifications@nibacollege.com.au.

Once you are enrolled you will be sent a confirmation email with a link to your program learning materials and other important information. If you do not receive either of these emails it is important that you contact us as soon as possible.

Studying at NIBA College

You may have a choice between a short course and a full qualification which you can achieve by doing formal coursework or a workplace assessment.
