Is this level right for you?

Those entering insurance broking get a great start to their career by enrolling in one of NIBA College’s insurance broking certificate courses.  The College offers two useful options:

• CERTIFICATE III IN INSURANCE BROKING if you are straight out of school or have not worked in an office before.


• CERTIFICATE IV IN INSURANCE BROKING if you already have some business or industry experience.

Certificate III and IV in Insurance Broking

Candidates in both certificate programs learn how to work effectively and efficiently within a broking business by studying six modules .

BLOCK 1: TIER 2 GENERAL INSURANCE

• MODULE 1 ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE FOR GENERAL INSURANCE BROKERS
Covers background knowledge for Tier 2 general insurance advisors including an overview of the industry, risk insurance products and related legislation.

• MODULE 2 GENERAL INSURANCE ADVICE SKILLS
Covers Tier 2 retail general insurance advice skills including how to establish a relationship with a client, prepare and deliver general and personal advice and implement an insurance program.

BLOCK 2: FOUNDATION BROKING SKILLS

MODULE 3 BUSINESS SKILLS FOR INSURANCE BROKERS 
Covers the skills needed to work effectively within an insurance broking business including working to industry and organisational guidelines, working safely in the office, using technology effectively.

MODULE 4 CLIENT SERVICE SKILLS FOR ADVISORS
Covers handling customer complaints and undertaking effective negotiations with clients and insurers.
 
MODULE 5 DESIGNING RISK PROGRAMS FOR BROKING CLIENTS 
Covers the foundation broking skills for  assistant account executives including:
• all aspects of the broking role from initial risk assessment through to providing customised advice and claims services; and
• an introduction to the principles of risk management.

MODULE 6  PERSONAL EFFECTIVENESS 
Covers implementing effective communications strategies and working effectively with others.

Tier 2 General Insurance Short Course

If the full Certificate is not required; NIBA College also offers a short course covering Tier 2 General Insurance Advisor Accreditation and the essential broking skills for assistant brokers and account executives.

Traineeships

State and Federal traineeships provide financial incentives to employers to assist new entrants in gaining employment experience and qualifications. Traineeships are available for eligible undertaking in Certificate III and Certificate IV through NIBA College.

Traineeship programs combine both structured training and practical work experiences. Learning and assessment take place in the office environment. The NIBA College course is delivered by distance learning with the trainee’s progress monitored regularly against their personalised training plan.

The course is designed to be completed in 12 months but in some States up to two years is allowed for completion.

The next step in your education is to qualify as a fully competent insurance broker by completing the Diploma of  Insurance Broking.

Enrolment

You can enrol in Certificate III courses at any time - Before you enrol make sure you;

1. Read the terms of study - you will be bound by these rules so make sure you understand them.

2. Click here to view course fees..

3. Check if you may be eligible for due to prior study. If so, you will need to provide a certified copy of your Statement of Attainment or equivalent documentation on enrolment

Once you have decided on the program you wish to undertake, complete the enrolment form online or download the manual form and send it to NIBA College.

Once you are enrolled you will be sent a confirmation email with a link to your program learning materials and other important information. If you do not receive either of these emails it is important that you contact us as soon as possible.

Delivery

All NIBA College Certificate III and IV courses are offered in distance study format. Once your enrolment has been confirmed you can access a comprehensive set of learning notes, presentations, study guides and assessment exercises online.

Traineeship students are required to set aside a number of hours during work time each week to complete their studies. These students will also be provided with a detailed timeline as to when each assessment activity is due.
