Requirements
An Associate of the College is a practitioner class of membership for those who are studying towards an accredited program, or already hold a full or partial financial services qualification under the level of Diploma.
Applicants must at least:
- be enrolled in an accredited program under the level of Diploma of Financial Services at NIBA College; or hold a full or partial financial services qualification under the level of Diploma with NIBA College or another registered training organisation or equivalent;
- be employed in a licensed or legally authorised financial services business under Chapter 7 of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth).
These members are entitled to use the post nominal “NIBA College (Associate)" and use the Associate logo on their business materials while this class of member. Go to Member Logos and Decals

Certificate level courses
NIBA College provides a number of Certificate II and III programs for those entering the insurance broking and general insurance sectors from school, business college, university, or another career path. These courses cover the knowledge, skills and industry practices required to work effectively in a range of reception, customer service, advisory and clerical roles within an insurance brokerage or general insurance office. Diploma
NIBA College's Tier 1 Insurance Broking short course is offered in 3 modules that cover all the necessary knowledge and skill requirements. The course covers insurance principles and Tier 1 product classes in an easy to learn online format, with an emphasis on workplace activities to make it easier to apply your knowledge to your specific job. Assessments are done online or in your workplace so you can complete the course within a timeframe to suit you.
NIBA College encourages all Tier 1 level Associates to complete their Diploma and move up the broking career pathway to QPIB level.
Block Two of the Diploma covers the application of broking industry guidelines; legislation and company procedures in the provision of professional broking services to ensure practitioners meet industry compliance requirements. You also learn about managing clients with significant risks and complex claims and assessing and negotiating a complex risk portfolio or complex claims settlement. More
If you are an experienced broker you may prefer to obtain your broking Diploma by undertaking the Senior Professional Assessment 1 (SPA1) program. More
Continuing Professional Development
Associates are required to complete 25 hours of Continuing Professional Development annually and may carry any additional hours over to the following year.
