Delivery Assessment Completion

This course is offered in distance learning mode and is undertaken at your own pace. However, it is expected that the course will take about 6 -12 months to complete.

Once you have enrolled, you will receive an email explaining how to access the unit materials. From there, you will use the online environment to participate in discussions, undertake research and complete assessment tasks.

The course materials consist of readings and self study activities that are designed to introduce you to key concepts and factual knowledge and to apply them in the work place. There are also links to industry information and legislation relevant to the study area.

When you complete this course you will be eligible for a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.  The course therefore includes a number of formal assessments that test your workplace application of the skills and knowledge covered in the course. Usually Course assessments are usually a combination of written assignments and exercises, workplace projects and activities and online tests.

You also have access to a number of course resources including detailed learning materials, telephone or online contact with the course adviser and course forums.

This course is very practical and work related, so one essential requirement is that you are currently employed in a role that is relevant to the course.

As it is an advanced, tertiary level program it is only suitable to those brokers who have relevant work experience and a prior professional qualification in broking or insurance.

For example, you should already have a full Diploma of Financial Services (Insurance Broking), Advanced Diploma of Financial Services or a degree from a recognised university or other equivalent higher education institution plus a minimum of two years work experience.

Allow 10 –12 hours a week to study each unit. Your fi rst study period will probably take the most time, so it is good to allow a bit extra when you are starting. Consider when you are going to fi t study in – evenings or weekends? Planning actual times for study can reveal how much time you can realistically devote to it. Be realistic and don’t overload yourself.
