NIBA Fellow

Requirements

A Fellow of the College is a senior practitioner class for those who have undertaken higher vocational qualifications in insurance or insurance broking.

Applicants must at least have:

  • an Advanced Diploma of Financial Services or Graduate Diploma of Financial Services from NIBA College or equivalent; 
  •  a minimum of 2 years experience as a CPIB, or 5 years as a QPIB or QFSR; and 
  • participated in continuing professional development as required by the NIBA Board in the 12 month period prior to the date of his/her application.

These members are entitled to use the post nominal “ NIBA College (CPIB Fellow)”, “ NIBA College (QPIB Fellow)”, or “ NIBA College (QFSR Fellow)” depending on member's prior level of membership, and use the Fellow logo on their business materials while this class of member. Continuing Professional Development

Fellows are require to complete 25 hours of Continuing Professional Development per year.

As a senior broker you are probably involved in Industry Leadership activities for which you can be awarded CPD points. More

If you are aged 55 years or more with over 10 years as apracticing broker, you may meet the requirements for Senior QPIB.

The Senior QPIB rules recognise the higher levels of workplace based professional development activities that these members generally undertake, particularly supporting the learning of others. More

Graduate Diploma

The Graduate Diploma of Financial Services enables you to specialise in management and technical areas relevant to your career in the broking sector. In addition, the focus on management skills will satisfy ASIC compliance requirements for responsible managers. More

Advanced Diploma

There are two pathways to achieve your Advanced Diploma:

Coursework
If you are moving into a more senior management role and wish to gain practical management skills and knowledge you should complete the distance study course. Throughout the course you test your knowledge through online quizzes and undertake practical activities in the workplace to apply your management learning. These activities are used to build your portfolio which is submitted as your final assessment. More

Senior Professional Assessment 3 (SPA 3)
If you are a business manager with significant prior experience rather than complete the course activities, you can use your own workplace documents and examples as the basis of preparing your portfolio. More

Services

NIBA offers a comprehensive range of services to those in senior broking and management roles.

The application process for NIBA membership takes approx eight to ten weeks.

Applications are considered very carefully to ensure that not only government requirements are met, but also NIBA's own strict conditions.

Step 1: Apply online

Step 2. Business Reputation Check
Applicant names are listed in the NIBA Gazette.  If no objections are received the application is referred to the NIBA Divisional Committee in the applicant’s State.  Once the Divisional Committee approves the application it is referred to the NIBA Board for final approval.

Step 3. Confirmation of Membership Offer
On approval of your documents by the Registrar, state divisional committee and the NIBA Board, a membership confirmation and offer will be sent to you.  Upon receipt of your payment of fees a membership pack which includes NIBA College information and a membership certificate will be forwarded.
