CPIB Program Recognition Pathway Program Content Learning Approach

Learning approach and the importance of a mentor

The program is highly interactive as there is a strong emphasis on workplace application. There are regular interaction points with mentors, supervisors and fellow program participants as well as input from industry experts. Throughout the semester you will be alerted to moderated online forums, lectures or peer support blogs. The program ‘Bulletin Board’ will include features that enable you to network with your peers in the program online.

In order to successfully undertake the CPIB program you need to choose a willing mentor who will assist you to identify your learning needs for the module, plan your workplace project and provide some guidance in its implementation. Mentors do not have to be insurance brokers; they may simply have extensive experience associated with the module area. They may be external or internal to your organisation, and can be a workplace supervisor.

Locating a mentor is your responsibility. Your mentor will need to be endorsed by NIBA College. This is a straightforward process that you undertake at the commencement of each module.

Resources and support are available to both CPIB participants and mentors. The CPIB website and learning materials contain detailed information for your mentor plus a range of templates and meeting guides to support the mentoring process.

Those acting as mentors are awarded 4 CPD points.
