Requirements
A Qualified Practising Insurance Broker of the College is a practitioner class for those who have fully qualified as a broker.
Applicants must at least have:
- a Diploma of Financial Services (Insurance Broking) with NIBA College or another registered training organisation or equivalent;
- a minimum of 4 years experience as an insurance broker; and
- participated in continuing professional development as required by the NIBA Board in the 12 month period prior to the date of his/her application.
These members are entitled to use the post nominal “NIBA College (QPIB)" and use the QPIB logo on their business materials while this class of member. Go to Member Logos and Decals

The Diploma is the industry benchmark to denote a qualified broker or risk advisor. NIBA College offers the Diploma via Distance Education or Workplace Assessment. More
QPIB's in managment roles may like to consider the Advanced Diploma to develop thier Brokerage Management skills. More
QPIB's looking to specialise in a particular area should consider the Graduate Diploma as a further edcuation option. More
Continuing Professional Development
QPIB's must complete 25 hours of CPD a year, additional hours can be carriedover to the following year. QPIB's have a wide range of CPD options including eLearning, seminars and conventions, and Industry Leadership Activities. More
CPIB Program
If you have achieved recognition as a qualified insurance broker and are seeking a higher level of professional education beyond your Qualified Practicing Insurance Broker (QPIB) designation, Certified Professional Insurance Broker (CPIB) is your new challenge for professional excellence.
The CPIB designation is a further level of recognition for those senior practising brokers who seek to build on their skills and knowledge through work experiences and completion of a higher-level professional development program.
QPIB's earn 4 CPD points per module and there are 8 modules to complete. More
Senior QPIB's
If you are aged 55 years or more with over 10 years as apracticing broker, you may meet the requirements for Senior QPIB. The Senior QPIB rules recognise the higher levels of workplace based professional development activities that these members generally undertake, particularly supporting the learning of others. More

The application process for NIBA membership takes approx eight to ten weeks.
Applications are considered very carefully to ensure that not only government requirements are met, but also NIBA's own strict conditions.
Step 1: Apply online
Step 2. Business Reputation Check Applicant names are listed in the NIBA Gazette. If no objections are received the application is referred to the NIBA Divisional Committee in the applicant’s State. Once the Divisional Committee approves the application it is referred to the NIBA Board for final approval.
Step 3. Confirmation of Membership Offer On approval of your documents by the Registrar, state divisional committee and the NIBA Board, a membership confirmation and offer will be sent to you. Upon receipt of your payment of fees a membership pack which includes NIBA College information and a membership certificate will be forwarded.
